The O.G. Chevy Lumina. My family had one of these with around 280,000 miles on it. Blue sedan with peeling clearcoat. Damn thing was indestructible and stupid levels of comfy thanks to the overstuffed cloth seats. I miss cars like this.
Needs sequential turn signals.

I still kinda like its platform mate, the Grand Prix:
Strangely handsome.

That’s because you didn’t have the awful 3.4L DOHC

These were so cool in the 90s. I miss the 90s :( My friends mom had the Bonneville with the supercharged 3800 in it and 1000 steering wheel buttons. 205 horsepower was pretty badass in the early 90s

If I had unlimited time and money I would convert one of these to RWD and fit it with a 500hp V8 then DD it. Column shift auto of course, and make sure appearances look factory perfect and unmodified.

My grandad is usually one of these people who wants good handling and a manual but he rented an auto Lumina when he visited the US and loved it. Said it was a rolling sofa, did hundreds of miles without noticing it.

That's insane, I like it.

I’ve seen it done. I forget what platform he used but the whole car was shortened by about 3 inches just after the B pillar (coupe).

The getrag 5 speed and 3.4l mill are notoriously unreliable but I’ll be damned if I don’t really want one.

I owned a sedan version of this. Great college car. Only sold it when the monthly maintenance costs were more than the payment on a more reliable vehicle.

That’s my friend Adam’s car!
I was on a W-Body forum from 2005-2010ish.

Good looking car. What would make it even better is a 3800 swap

I had a coworker who drove one of those to work. It had a penchant for electrical fires.

I’m right with you on this one. My 17 year old self really thought one of those in white would be about the perfect ride back in ‘94. 4-cam GM engine in the early 90's? Unheard of...

nope, the 3.4L DOHC was a much better engine.

how was it awful?

very finicky and difficult to work on

fun fact, they had to detune the engine because it way out performed the 3800 flagship engine.

I had one of these growing up. Great first car. Nice sized interior, decent on twisty backroads and stupid comfy. One thing it is not is fancy. But the design is still pretty clean after all of these years.

I wanted this combo in the 4 door. I thought that would be a pretty fun setup.
